AMY HAMMONTREE
Biography
Amy Hammontree is a seasoned public relations practitioner and communications strategist with a proven track record in personal publicity, brand marketing, crisis management and corporate strategy to get the right message across to the appropriate target audience. Her primary expertise is media relations to support brand-building programs, special events, program launches, sponsorships and promotions that align with overall marketing goals and brand vision.
Serving for 11 years as the Director of Communications and Talent Relations for HGTV, Warner Bros. Discovery’s popular global lifestyle brand, Amy led the internal team and external PR agency to execute national communications strategies, as well as led the planning, development and execution of innovative national media campaigns that delivered high-value target audiences, drove ratings, built buzz and elevated the network’s proven and emerging stars.
Throughout her 24 years on the communications team at HGTV, Amy also spearheaded PR for HGTV Dream Home, Smart Home and Urban Oasis Giveaways; HGTV’s cause marketing community revitalization campaign, Change the World. Start at Home; experiential marketing events, such as HGTV Lodge at the CMA Music Fest in Nashville and the Lodge’s Super Bowl activation alongside DirecTV; as well as other HGTV brand extensions. During her tenure, the HGTV communications team helped make household names of many talented real estate, design and renovation experts, including Drew and Jonathan Scott of Property Brothers, Ben and Erin Napier of Home Town, David Bromstad of My Lottery Dream Home, Hilary Farr and David Visentin of Love It or List It and Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack of Flip or Flop.
Prior to her time at HGTV, Amy served as a production assistant and master control operator at WBIR-TV and worked at a small shop-at-home station in Atlanta, Georgia.
Amy holds a B.A. in Theatre and an M.S. in Communications from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She also completed the 2024 Digital Marketing Program offered by the University of Tennessee’s Center for Professional Education and Lifelong Learning. An avid athlete, she completed the Knoxville Marathon twice — although these days she prefers walks instead. Amy resides in Knoxville with her husband Aaron, along with three dogs and two cats.
